Here in South Africa, petrol is cheaper along the coast than in land, it was interesting to read that the air con doesn't really use up all that much but is best not to use it all the time but wisely. Another thing is that I had no idea that oversea they have certain days that gas is cheaper.

I always pump my gas @ Costco as I find they are the cheapest in the area. If you have their business american express Costco card, they will give you 3% cash back for the gas, and it doesn't really limit to just Costco stations, you can also get 3% at other stations such as Chevron, Shell...etc
When the cashback check comes, you will see how much you would've saved.

Driving with your windows down and the air conditioning off consumes less gas than having the windows up and the air conditioner running. This is absolutely true -- that is, when you're cruising around town.
"When you're driving across town, in stop-and-go traffic," says Frank Hampshire, director of market research with the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association, or AASA, "it's more fuel efficient to drive with the air conditioning off, windows down."
